Position Overview:
The High School Pom Coach will be responsible for leading and developing the pom squad at Grace Christian Academy, a Christian-based educational institution. This role involves coaching student-athletes in the skills necessary to perform various pom and dance routines, maintaining a positive and Christ-centered team environment, and promoting the values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. The coach will also be expected to organize practices, schedule and lead team events, and provide mentorship to the student-athletes both on and off the field.
Key Responsibilities:

Training & Development:
- Lead daily practices to develop skills in pom techniques, dance, and performance routines.
- Instruct the team on appropriate movements, formation changes, and synchronized routines.
- Ensure that the squad is physically conditioned and prepared for performances and competitions.
- Tailor coaching methods to meet the individual needs of students while fostering a team-oriented environment.

- Create and manage practice schedules, ensuring ample preparation for games, competitions, and other school events.
- Develop and encourage a positive, supportive team culture rooted in Christian principles of respect, kindness, and hard work.
- Foster strong relationships with athletes, promoting discipline, accountability, and personal growth.

Game & Event Performance:
- Direct the team during halftime performances, pep rallies, and other school events.
- Organize and attend any competitions or exhibitions, ensuring the team is well-prepared and equipped for each performance.

Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with other school coaches, administrators, and the Athletic Director to ensure a balanced and well-rounded athletic program.
- Regularly communicate with parents, students, and school staff regarding schedules, events, and the development of the pom squad.

Spiritual Mentorship:
- Lead by example in promoting a Christian lifestyle both on and off the field.
- Encourage students to grow in their faith, exhibit Christ-like behavior, and support one another in their journey as athletes and individuals.

Administrative Duties:
- Maintain proper documentation of team activities, student-athlete progress, and any required reports.
- Ensure that all team equipment, uniforms, and materials are properly maintained.
- Complete the yearly coach trainings as required by the school and the TSSAA

- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in education, sports management, or related field preferred.
- A High level of experience coaching or performing in pom, dance, cheerleading, or related activities.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of the Grace Christian Academy.
- Ability to foster a team environment based on mutual respect and collaboration.
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications preferred, or the willingness to obtain certification.
- Passionate about working with high school students and cultivating a positive, Christ-centered team dynamic.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Energetic, creative, and able to adapt to a variety of teaching and coaching methods.
- Strong role model with integrity, responsibility, and a commitment to high standards of excellence.
