Job Title: High School English Teacher
Reports To: High School Principal
Time Status: Full-time

JOB SUMMARY
To serve as a high school English teacher in fulfillment of GCA’s mission to Lead, Build, and Equip students.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Desirable candidates should have the following background or comparable experience:

Earned degree in English required
Minimum three years teaching high school (or college) English preferred
Advanced degree preferred
Experience teaching Advanced Placement Language and Composition preferred
High level of emotional intelligence
Exceptional oral and written communication skills
Experience integrating technology into the curriculum
Ability to engage parents/guardians as partners in the student’s educational experience
A history of continued growth and development as an educator
A history of effective collaboration with colleagues

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but are not limited to:
Give instructions to the students in the curricula area assigned by the High School Principal
Design engaging teaching material
Ability to teach high school level English courses in a rigorous college preparatory setting
Create lessons centered around a biblical worldview
Facilitate course discussions on social issues from a biblical lens while acknowledging various denominational differences
Devise lesson plans that follow GCA’s Curriculum and Instruction Standards and Course Maps
Ability to hold students to a clearly articulated standard of performance
Experiment with different teaching methods
Differentiate instruction for students with learning challenges
Maintain a positive classroom environment that promotes safe learning
Utilize a learning management system for instruction
Update grades and lesson plans on FACTS Renweb
Maintain cordial relationships with the home, parent(s)/guardian(s) and community
Keep parent(s)/guardian(s) duly informed of the child’s progress and hold conferenceswith parent(s)/guardian(s) when necessary
Establish and maintain satisfactory, respectful working relationships within the school environment
Perform other duties as assigned

● Must be an active member of a local church.
● Fully supportive of the decisions and loyal to the mission and leadership of the school and Grace Baptist Church.
● Passion for connecting with teachers, students, and families to support student/ teacher success within a Christian environment.
